Alastair Harris
Head Distiller
Alastair brings the science to our distillery, in 2017 he received a Bachelor’s of Biotechnology(Hons) from the University of Auckland and is currently pursuing a PhD in Microbiology and Fermentation. The Trident Distillery is Alastair’s pandemic brainchild. In an effort to recapture the missing whisky, vodka and gin drinking at the pub he developed our initial recipes on a home-based 50 L still during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. Once the dust had settled, he decided to take his distilling craft to the next level, opening the Trident to combine his passion with scientific knowledge.
Cain Reid
Head of Business
Cain is the resident business whiz, with knowledge about supply chains, marketing and so much more he drives the distillery in the real world. With years of experience managing supply chains at companies like Frucor, the Trident is a bit smaller than he might be used to, but not for long with Cain driving the work! While he may have been bought on board for his business expertise Cain was a driving factor in the original home setup, providing expert opinions on many experimental spirits.
Jordan Rimmer
Head of Technology
If you have a problem with technology Jordan is the person to speak to. Receiving a computer science degree from the Auckland University of Technology he quickly departed for some overseas experience in England. However, the lure of the distillery was too strong, and in 2020 he returned to join the Trident. Jordan is the architect of all our technological marvels, from QR codes to inhouse monitoring of all our fermentations. At the same time, he is no stranger to a sophisticated spirit, his go to drink is a rum and coke.
